the Pink City, Jaipur! Jaipur is one of the most beautiful and
culturally rich cities of India. The Pink City has many beautiful
monuments, forts and palaces such as the Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar,
Amber Fort and the City Palace. Maharaja Jai Singh II founded Jaipur in
the late 17th century. Jaipur is an amicable blend of traditional
lifestyles and modern ways. You can enjoy sightseeing and shopping for
exquisite artwork and handicrafts in Jaipur, a marvelous synthesis of
heritage and contemporary trends.
The city tour of Jaipur begins with the Hawa Mahal. The Hawa Mahal or
the Palace of Winds is a five-storied building with semi-octagonal and
delicate honey combed sandstone windows. This is followed by a visit to
the Amber Fort. The Amber fort was once the center of power of the
erstwhile rulers of the Amber state. You will ascend the Amber fort on
elephant back. You can also do shopping for Jaipur's famous jewellery,
handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles. After lunch you will be
taken to the City Palace, home of the erstwhile Royal family. It follows
a visit to the Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory built by the Sawai
Jai Singh II. After exploring the Pink City you will be driven back to
the Royal ambience of the Palace on Wheels.
