The next destination on the Palace on wheels train
tour is Bharatpur. Bharatpur is famous for the Keoladeo Ghana bird
sanctuary or the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The National Park has
more than 375 species of birds, numerous mammals and reptiles. The most
important attraction at the Park is the migratory birds that visit the
Park from different parts of the world. The birds arrive by August and
leave in February. The migratory birds include Coot Snipes, Spanish
Sparrow, Red Crested Porhard, Rosy Pelican and Flamingo. The Siberian
birds remain the most awaited creature in the National park. The park
also has a rich population of Pythons, Spotted Deer, Sambhars, Blue
Bull, Black Buck, Jackals, Otters, Fishing Cats and Monitor Lizards.
After the bird watching tour, you will be driven to Fatehpur Sikri. The
great Mughal Emperor, Akbar, built Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri is a
place with many grand monuments built in red sandstone. Notable
attractions at Fatehpur Sikri are the Buland Darwaza, the Panch Mahal,
Jodha Bai's Palace etc. After the stopover at Fatehpur Sikri you will
proceed to Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal. The Mughal emperor, Shah
Jahan, built the Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaj Mahal.
Other historical attractions at Agra are the Red fort, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's
tomb and Akbar's tomb at Sikandara.
