Palace on Wheels Tour Day 05: Ranthambore National Park/ Chittorgarh

Along with the historical and cultural aspects of India, the Palace on Wheels also showcases the wildlife of India. The next sojourn of the Palace on wheels is Ranthambore National Park. Sawai Madhopur town is located at the entrance of the Ranthambhore National Park, which is well known for its lush green environs, lakes, meandering rivers and wildlife.

Ranthambore National park is famous for its tigers and is one of the best places in India to explore wildlife. Tigers can be easily spotted even during the day. The Ranthambore National Park covers an area of nearly 400 sq. km. and is set between the Aravali and the Vindhya ranges. One can see great varieties of flora and fauna life at the Ranthambore National Park. And if you are a photography lover, then it is the place for you!

Chittorgarh, also known as Chittor, was once the capital of former Rajput state, Mewar, well known in the history of Rajasthan as the land of brave Rajputs. Chittorgarh is synonymous with Rajput pride, romance and spirit. The main attraction at Chittorgarh is the Chittor fort, located atop a hill. The Chittorgarh fort is a depiction of Rajput culture and values. The fort stands on a 240-hectares site on an 180m high hill that rises rapidly from the plains below. Apart from its historical importance, Chittorgarh has a number of temples, including the Kalika Mata Temple. Another important attraction at Chittorgarh is the tower of Victory, Vijay Stambh. It was by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Mohamed Khilji.
