Palace on Wheels Tour Day 7: Bharatpur/Agra

The next destination on the Palace-on-Wheels train tour is Bharatpur. Bharatpur is famous for the Keoladeo Ghana bird sanctuary or the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The National Park has more than 375 species of birds, numerous mammals and reptiles. The most important attraction at the Park is the migratory birds that visit the park from different parts of the world. The birds arrive by August and leave in February. The migratory birds include Coot Snipes, Spanish Sparrow, Red Crested Porhard, Rosy Pelican and Flamingo. The Siberian birds remain the most awaited creatures in the National park. The park also has a rich population of Pythons, Spotted Deer, Sambhars, Blue Bull, Black Buck, Jackals, Otters, Fishing Cats and Monitor Lizards.

After the bird watching tour, you will be boarded back to the Palace-on-Wheels to visit the mesmerizing and fascinating city of Agra. Home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, in the loving memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Other historical attractions at Agra are the Agra Fort, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's tomb and Akbar's tomb at Sikandra. Famous for marble inlay work, Agra has several knick-knacks to shop and take back home. Apart from the famous leather goods and jewelry, Agra is known for the Pietra Dura work, which is evident in the miniature Tajs eagerly waiting to be picked by you.
